KRIMCHANKA

The pear variety "Krimchanka" (The Jewel of Crimea) is a winter variety of Ukrainian selection, distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to major diseases and pests. Fruiting begins in the 3rd-5th year after planting; saplings are typically grafted onto a semi-dwarfing quince stock or IS 4-6 rootstock. The recommended planting scheme is 4x4 meters, which promotes optimal tree development and yield.

Fruits of this variety are large, barrel-shaped or round-pear-shaped, weighing from 230 to 450 grams. The skin is yellow-green with a bright dark-red blush on the sun-exposed side, turning golden upon ripening. The flesh is creamy-colored, medium-density, juicy and aromatic with a sour-sweet or pleasant sweet taste, ensuring a high tasting score — from 4.5 to 4.7 points. Thanks to their taste qualities, the fruits are versatile: they are eaten fresh and used for processing — making jam, preserves, jelly, marmalade, drying, and preparing compotes.

Harvest maturity is reached in the second decade of October, and due to good keeping quality, fruits can be stored in a refrigerator for up to 4-5 months, allowing the crop to be used until spring. The variety has high transportability, making it convenient for long-distance transport. Thanks to these characteristics, "Krimchanka" is suitable for cultivation in various regions and is an excellent choice for gardeners who value quality and long-term fruit storage.
