VELVET SEASON

The "Velvet Season" peach variety is a medium-sized tree with a spreading, spherical crown of medium density and smooth gray bark. The tree grows rapidly, featuring a thick arching shoot and medium-sized, long-pointed green leaves with serrated edges. The flowers are bell-shaped with pink petals, and fruiting bodies are predominantly borne on fruiting spurs. The variety is self-fertile and begins to bear fruit in the third year after planting, demonstrating high yield. "Velvet Season" peach fruits have an oval shape and a medium weight ranging from 80 to 152 grams, with skin that is orange or yellow, covered with a red blush occupying most of the surface. The skin may be thin and easily separated from the flesh or thicker with a velvety fuzz that is difficult to remove. The flesh varies from cream to yellow, is dense, juicy, and possesses high taste qualities—ranging from sweet to sweet-sour with spicy notes. The pit is small and oval but does not separate from the flesh. Ripening occurs at the end of July to early August, classifying the variety as mid-late season. Due to the dense flesh and high fruit quality, peaches are suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for making compotes, freezing, and use in fruit salads. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, strong immunity to pests and diseases, and ease of cultivation, making it popular among gardeners and buyers.
