The Clown peach variety is an early-mid season variety created by NBS selection and adapted to the agro-climatic conditions of the steppe zone of southern Ukraine. Trees of this variety are medium-sized, with spreading and dense crowns, characterized by high shoot-forming ability and closely spaced internodes. Leaves are lanceolate, yellowish-green, smooth and shiny, giving the plant a decorative appearance.
The fruits of the Clown variety are large, oval-round, weighing from 125 to 200 grams, averaging about 160 grams. The main fruit color is light yellow, with a bright carmine covering color covering 60–90% of the surface. The flesh is juicy and fibrous, does not detach from the pit, has a harmonious taste with a slight tartness, which makes peaches versatile in use. They are suitable both for fresh consumption and for processing in the canning industry, for example, for making juices.
The variety is distinguished by high and stable yield, however, requires attention to protection from diseases such as leaf curl and clasterosporiosis, as resistance to them is average. In addition, the variety has medium drought resistance and heat tolerance, which is important for successful cultivation in southern regions. To maintain the health of trees, chemical protection and adherence to agricultural care measures are recommended.
