Pea VERBAL

Genetic Architecture of Verbal Pea by Laboulet Semences

French breeding house Laboulet Semences focuses on creating resilient crop varieties, and the "Verbal" pea stands as a prime example of balancing plant physiology with defensive potential. This variety is engineered with built-in resistance mechanisms against key pathogens that limit yields in intensive agricultural systems.

Phytopathological Resistance as a Stability Factor

A critical node in pea production technology is the protection of the root system and foliage. Verbal demonstrates genetically fixed tolerance to a complex of root rots, allowing the plant to maintain turgor and full metabolism even under high-pressure disease conditions. In addition, the variety possesses clear immunity to Ascochyta blight and Anthracnose. This is not merely "protection"; it is a reduction in the pesticide load per hectare: fewer fungicide applications result in higher crop margins.

Morphological Parameters and Grain Potential

The physical characteristics of "Verbal" are optimized for efficient harvesting:

• Plant Height: Medium, which ensures an optimal balance between vegetative mass and generative organs, effectively preventing premature lodging.
• 1000-Seed Weight: Ranging from 220 to 260 grams, categorizing this as a large-seeded variety. High grain filling directly correlates with germination energy and the initial development of the crop in the subsequent cycle.

Sourcing seeds from Laboulet Semences guarantees, under the originatorship of Veronigue Tramcourt, compliance with rigorous seed production standards. For the farmer, this translates into predictable emergence and uniform pod maturity, both essential for minimizing losses during direct combine harvesting.
