Pea Veles

A Proven Standard in Pea Breeding

The 'Veles' pea variety represents a significant achievement of the Russian breeding school, developed through the collaboration of the Kurgansemena Agrocomplex and the Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Named among the contributors is Vladimir Vasilyevich Nemchenko, a respected figure in agricultural science, whose work has helped establish this variety as a reliable, stable option for mid-season cultivation.

Key Agronomic Traits

Veles is characterized by a vegetation period of 70-80 days, placing it firmly in the mid-season category. This development cycle allows the crop to optimize moisture uptake during critical early growth stages. With an average plant height, the variety is specifically bred for mechanical harvesting efficiency. Its structural integrity reduces the risk of lodging, ensuring that farmers can achieve cleaner harvests with fewer losses during the combining phase.

Market Positioning and Application

For modern farming operations, Veles acts as a consistent 'workhorse'. It is not designed for niche experiments but rather for producers seeking predictability and high response to standard intensive farming techniques. Its reputation rests on its consistent adaptability to diverse soil conditions and regional climate stress factors. By choosing Veles, agricultural enterprises benefit from a selection strategy that prioritizes regional hardiness and yield stability, proving that locally developed genetics can compete effectively in high-productivity farming systems.
