Field pea GLYANSS

Stable yields with minimal hassle

The Glans pea variety, developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute NAAS, is designed for agricultural enterprises that prioritize harvest efficiency. This semi-dwarf, leafless (tendrilled) variety minimizes the risk of crop lodging. Unlike tall-growing alternatives, Glans demonstrates exceptional stability, making it the optimal choice for direct harvesting.

Agronomic potential and specifications

• Vegetation: 70-80 days. The short ripening period allows the crop to effectively utilize soil moisture and avoid peak summer droughts.
• Morphology: The tendrilled plant structure ensures excellent interlocking between stems, creating a stable stand.
• Seeds: The thousand-grain weight is 260-280g, characterizing the variety as large-seeded with high market quality.
• Quality: Protein content ranges between 20-22%, making the grain suitable for both fodder and processing industries.

Key strengths and recommendations

The main advantage of Glans lies in its adaptability to industrial farming practices. The variety is free from the common issues of crop collapse, reducing harvest losses to near zero. It is a reliable solution for farms where high harvesting speed and minimal dependence on weather conditions are critical. Glans reaches its full potential on fertile Ukrainian soils, requiring minimal intervention during the growth stage due to its genetically determined compact structure.
