Pea variety Avenger is a medium-maturing green-seeded variety, registered in the Ukrainian Variety Register in 2016 and recommended for cultivation in all climatic zones. This variety features an intensive growth type and is suitable for direct combine harvesting. The seeds of Avenger variety are used for both food and feed purposes, possessing high protein content — from 23.1 to 25.0%. The recommended plant density at harvest is 30-31 thousand per hectare, with a potential yield of 2.3-2.5 tons per hectare.
Avenger is characterized by a medium-early maturity with an extended flowering period. The plants are sufficiently tall and exhibit excellent resistance to lodging, confirmed by a rating of 8 out of 9 on the resistance scale. Moreover, the variety demonstrates high resistance to various diseases, including anthracnose, root diseases, viral diseases, and is tolerant to TuYV. A distinctive feature of this variety is high resistance to phomopsis (RLM7), cylindrosporiasis, verticillium wilt, sclerotinia, and pod cracking, which ensures yield retention and seed quality. The variety exhibits high winter hardiness and drought tolerance, and is suitable for wide-row planting. The seeding rate is 350-450 thousand seeds per hectare.
