Paulownia PROFI – is a tree that impresses with its rapid growth and majestic appearance. It reaches a height of 12–30 m and a width of 8–18 m, with an annual growth of 40–45 cm in height and 20 cm in width in the first few years. The tree lives up to a hundred years, but with age, the growth rate slows down to 20–30 cm. The root is deep and delicate, the trunk is cylindrical with a diameter up to 80 cm, the bark is thin and grayish.
Leaves – large, light green, up to 25 cm wide and 30 cm long (in some specimens up to 70 cm). They fall in autumn, but remain green until they turn brown. Flowers – large, 6 to 20 cm in diameter, gathered in panicles up to 30 cm long. Their shades vary from violet to pink and lavender, and the aroma resembles vanilla. Flowering begins in 3–5 years after planting, and in hybrid varieties – already in the third year.
Paulownia is perfect for landscape design: it can be planted as single trees or in groups, creating large shaded areas. Thanks to rapid growth and large leaves, the tree efficiently cleans the air – up to 22 kg of CO₂ per year. In addition, Paulownia is a honey plant: up to 700 kg of honey can be collected from one hectare.
For successful cultivation, a sunny plot, moderate watering and proper fertilization are needed: nitrogen fertilizers in the spring, phosphorus-potassium – in the summer. The tree prefers bright lighting, grows well on various soils, including clay with pH 5–7, but does not like drought and waterlogging. Frost resistance reaches -30 °C in mature age.
Paulownia is also valued for its light wood: it is one of the lightest broad-leaved species, soft and dries quickly, which makes it suitable for making furniture, musical instruments and other products. Oil obtained from seeds is used in Japanese lacquers.
Thus, Paulownia PROFI is not only a beautiful element of the garden, but also a practical resource: it grows fast, cleans the air, produces honey and provides light wood for various industrial applications.
