Description Samanta
Samantha F1 onion is a high-yielding hybrid of bulb onion developed by Enza Zaden. It is a medium-late variety with a vegetation period of 115 to 130 days, characterized by large, round bulbs with a dense internal structure and strong, bronze-colored, matte-surfaced outer scales. The onion has excellent taste qualities and a high content of dry matter, making it attractive for both fresh consumption and processing.

The Samantha hybrid is resistant to adverse climatic conditions and stress, ensuring stable yields. Plants have a robust vegetative mass with a waxy coating, and the slender necks of the bulbs contribute to their good storage qualities. The onion is suitable for mechanical harvesting and can retain its qualities for 7-8 months without losing flavor or market appearance.

Samantha onion is recommended for cultivation in open ground using seeds treated by the manufacturer and ready for sowing. The optimal planting density is 1–1.25 million seeds per hectare. For successful cultivation, soil preparation is best done in autumn, including plowing and fertilization. During the vegetation period, regular loosening, weed removal, and thinning of seedlings if necessary are essential. Fertilization should be conducted several times: initially with nitrogen fertilizers to promote active growth, then with potassium and phosphorus fertilizers to accelerate bulb maturation. Irrigation is important in the first half of the vegetation period, then reduced, and completely stopped before harvest.
