The bulbs have a round shape and weigh from 70 to 90 grams, sometimes reaching 140 grams. The dry skins are yellowish-brown, dense, usually 2-3 pieces, while the juicy skins are white. The onion has a semi-sharp taste, with dry matter content reaching 11.7% and total sugar content of 9.2%. The onion has good storability and is not prone to sprouting during storage, ensuring long-term preservation of product quality. The SALDO variety is distinguished by stable yield and uniformity of bulbs. Marketable yield when grown from seeds ranges from 132 to 183 centners per hectare, and when using seedlings - from 183 to 268 centners per hectare. Maturity of the onion before harvest reaches 60-75%, and after ripening - 80-100%. The onion tolerates drought and cold well, making it versatile for various climatic conditions. To achieve maximum yield, early sowing into moist soil before the heat, regular watering, and fertilization with nitrogen and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers are recommended. The SALDO onion is suitable for planting both in open ground and under winter, expanding its cultivation possibilities. The average neck thickness and single-two-locule bulb type make this variety convenient for storage and transportation. Thanks to its characteristics and resistance to unfavorable conditions, the SALDO variety is popular among farmers and home gardeners, providing a stable and high-quality yield.
