Description
Romi Onion is a mid-early universal variety that matures in 75-85 days. This variety was developed in the Netherlands and gained widespread recognition due to its high yield and quality. Bulbs have a round shape with a narrow neck and weigh from 80 to 110 grams. The outer dry scales are colored red-purple, while the juicy layers have a reddish tint. Romi Onion is distinguished by synchronized maturation and high ripening, which ensures a stable and high-quality harvest. From one square meter, you can collect up to 6 kilograms of marketable onion.
This variety is characterized by high storability and excellent transportability, thanks to which the onion retains its qualities until spring. Romi Onion does not bolt, which makes it convenient for cultivation and storage. The flavor of the onion is moderately semi-sharp, which allows it to be used for various culinary purposes: for preparing salads, thermally processed dishes, as well as for homemade winter preserves. The variety is recommended for cultivation from sets, optimally in a two-year culture.
Romi onion plants reach a height of 50-60 cm and possess frost resistance, which ensures a stable harvest even in unfavorable climatic conditions. For planting, it is recommended to use sets of 8-16 mm in size, with a planting depth of about 5 cm and a distance between plants of 15 cm. Onions prefer moderately moist soil and regular, but not excessive watering. The planting period falls in the spring months, and flowering occurs in July.
