Mallory F1 onion is a medium-early hybrid of semi-pointed bulb onion developed by the breeding company Bejo Zaden. The maturation period is approximately 114–125 days, making it suitable for both early harvest and long-term storage. The plant features a strong root system and large leaves, which ensure active biomass accumulation even under stress and drought conditions, especially in southern regions. The onion is resistant to root rot, peronosporosis, and black leg, enhancing its reliability in cultivation.
Mallory F1 bulbs have a round shape and a dense golden-bronze skin, which provides excellent protection during storage and transport. Fruit weight ranges from 110 to 250 grams. The inner scales are thick, succulent, and crisp, with a pleasant sweet flavor and moderate spiciness. Due to these qualities, the onion is suitable for fresh consumption as well as various culinary preparations, including hot dishes, canning, pickling, drying, and freezing.
The Mallory F1 hybrid is characterized by high yield and stable performance under proper agronomic practices and timely fertilization. It is easy to peel, highly transportable, and intended for long-term storage up to 190–205 days. The recommended sowing rate is 0.8 to 1.1 million seeds per hectare, enabling effective planting planning and high-quality harvests.
