Piero Onion — a medium-early perennial leek variety intended for green growth. The plant forms an upright rosette of leaves up to 40 cm high with wide, juicy, and tender leaves up to 2 cm wide. The foliage has a semi-sharp taste, does not become tough quickly, and retains juiciness, making it an excellent source of fresh vitamins from early spring until frost. Thanks to the waxy coating, the leaves are reliably protected from pests and diseases, and high cold hardiness allows the plant to start growing at temperatures around +2°C. Piero Onion is distinguished by high yield — from 1.2 to 2.6 kg of greens per square meter. The first cut is possible just 30 days after leaf emergence, and subsequent cuts every 50-60 days until mid-August. Greens can be cut completely or carefully pluck individual leaves, leaving young ones in the center, which ensures a constant supply of fresh greens. With proper care and adherence to agronomy, the plant can grow in one place for 4-5 years, after which replanting is recommended. Growing Piero Onion is convenient and effective, especially when sowing seeds on eco-tape, which completely dissolves in the soil and simplifies plant care. Sowing is carried out in early spring in furrows at a distance of 5-10 cm between them. Care includes regular weeding, loosening, and timely watering. Onion tolerates shade and drought well, making it universal for different growing conditions. Thanks to its taste qualities and disease resistance, the Piero variety is an excellent choice for obtaining fresh greens throughout the season.
