Chives "Nezhenska" — a perennial plant of the lily family, grown for tender and aromatic greens from early spring to autumn. The plant has flat, linear leaves 25 to 50 cm long of bright green color, which have a tender-spicy, non-pungent taste. The false bulb of "Nezhenska" is cylindrical and weakly expressed, smoothly transitioning to the false stem, while large real bulbs are not formed. The bush is compact, differs in beautiful flowering of spherical umbel inflorescences of white, purple and pink shades, and is also an excellent honey plant.
This variety of chives is characterized by high yield and disease resistance. It is widely used in cooking for preparing salads and first courses due to its tender taste and high nutritional value. Chives "Nezhenska" contains a large amount of vitamin C and essential amino acids, which makes it a useful and nutritious product. The plant can grow in one place for 5-6 years, reproduced both vegetatively by dividing the bush and by sowing seeds.
For successful growing of chives "Nezhenska" it is recommended to sow seeds from late March to early May, pre-soaking them in water for 18-24 hours. Care includes regular soil loosening, weeding, feeding and watering. In spring it is useful to feed the plant with a solution of fermented cow dung or chicken manure. During the period of active growth, leaves can be cut 3-4 times, which ensures a constant supply of fresh greens.
