Vitamin Snoop is a perennial cold-hardy type of onion capable of yielding a commercial harvest in one place for three to four years. The plant forms compact bushy plants with synchronized green growth in early spring and a prolonged harvest throughout the season. Onion leaves have a semi-sharp taste, are thin, dark green with a light waxy coating, and the bulb is weakly expressed. The plant's flower spikes can be used in winter bouquets, adding decorative value to this type of onion.
The period from mass growth to technical maturity of green onion is about 90 days. In the first year of life, by September, the plant forms 10-15 shoots, allowing for selective cutting of individual stems. Young leaves are cut at a height of 5-7 cm from the ground 3-4 times per season, ensuring a constant supply of fresh greens. Full harvesting is carried out in May of the year following sowing.
For successful cultivation of Vitamin Snoop, it is recommended to sow seeds in open ground at the end of April – beginning of May by the row method with a distance of 20-30 cm between rows and 4-6 cm between plants in a row, with a sowing depth of 1-2 cm. Plants require timely watering, regular weeding, loosening, and fertilizing with mineral fertilizers after each cutting to ensure good growth and abundant fruiting.
