The Danilovsky 301 onion variety is mid-season, with a maturation period from sowing to technical ripeness of about 91-100 days. The bulbs have a flat or round-flat shape and weigh from 70 to 155 grams, depending on the cultivation method. The color of dry scales varies from dark red with a purple tint to purple, while juicy scales are light lilac and light purple. The onion has a semi-sharp taste, closer to sweet, making it universal for fresh consumption and canning.
The variety is low-clover, with 2-3 bulb buds, and also forms 2-3 scapes 130-145 cm high. The storability of the onion is satisfactory, allowing the harvest to be stored for a certain period without significant quality loss. To obtain larger bulbs, seedling cultivation is recommended: sowing seeds for seedlings is done in March, and transplanting into open ground — at the beginning of May according to the 20x10 cm scheme. Direct sowing of seeds into the ground is also possible at the end of April — beginning of May at a depth of 1.0-1.5 cm.
For successful cultivation of the Danilovsky 301 variety, timely watering, regular weeding, soil loosening, and fertilization with mineral fertilizers are necessary. Cultivation in a two-year culture from seed onions is recommended, which improves the quality and size of the bulbs. This variety is suitable for both home gardening and commercial cultivation due to its universality and good agrotechnical characteristics.
