LUHANSK

The Luhansk onion variety is a high-yield and early-maturing annual variety cultivated from seeds in a single season. The bulbs of this variety are round, of medium density, weighing between 70 and 150 grams, sometimes reaching up to 200 grams. The upper part of the bulbs protrudes above the soil surface by a third, which accelerates ripening and facilitates harvest collection. The outer scales are golden-yellow with brownish hues, while the inner scales are light yellow and juicy with a slight greenish tint. The onion is characterized by good storage life, which can reach up to 7 months while maintaining its taste and nutritional qualities. The Luhansk variety is classified as mid-early to early in terms of ripening time, with a vegetation period of 90 to 120 days. Plants reach a height of 30-35 cm and are characterized by high yield—up to 4-5 kg of onions per square meter can be harvested from one square meter. This variety is resistant to diseases and is undemanding in cultivation, growing well both in open ground and in greenhouses, making it popular among Ukrainian gardeners for summer and winter consumption. For growing Luhansk onions, it is recommended to sow seeds in early spring directly into the ground or via seedlings. Seeds are sown at a depth of 1.5-2 cm with row spacing of 15 cm and a distance between bands of 40 cm, using 7-10 g of seeds per square meter. After seedlings appear, regular weeding and soil loosening are required. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptability, the Luhansk variety is an excellent choice for obtaining high-quality and tasty onions with a long storage period.
