The one-year onion variety Havski 74 is intended for growing bulbs in a one-year culture from seeds. This early-ripening variety is characterized by maturation periods ranging from 88 to 102 days, allowing for harvest in a short time. The bulbs have an oval or round-flat shape, weighing from 40 to 51 grams, with a small number of beds and buds, which facilitates their processing and storage.
The appearance of the bulbs is distinguished by yellow and yellow-brown coloration of dry scales, sometimes with a pinkish tint, while the juicy scales have a white color. The onion flavor is semi-sharp, making it versatile for various culinary applications. The commercial yield of the variety ranges from 181 to 255 centners per hectare, equivalent to 1.8–2.6 kg per square meter, ensuring a high output of product.
The Havski 74 variety was bred at the Voronezh Vegetable Experimental Station and recommended for cultivation in the Central Black Earth region. However, it has a drawback - low resistance to the pathogen of peronosporosis (downy mildew), which requires careful care and preventive measures during cultivation.
