CHELYABINSK PINK

The Chelyabinsk Pink shallot variety is distinguished by its expressive pink color of both the outer skin and the flesh, which gives it an attractive appearance and makes it an excellent decoration for fresh salads. The bulbs have an elliptical or slightly elongated shape, weighing from 25 to 80 grams, and form in clusters of 8-10 pieces. Dry scales are colored dark brown with a pinkish tint, while the juicy inner scales have a white color with a purple or light pink tint. The taste of the onion is semi-sharp or slightly sharp, piquant and soft, making it universal for use in cuisine, marinades, and canning.

The Chelyabinsk Pink variety is early-maturing — from planting to maturity takes only 50-70 days. The bulbs are dense and store well for 10-12 months, allowing them to be used for a long time after harvest. The leaves of this variety are thin, tender, and tasty, which allows for early green cuttings. The leaf rosette is of medium height and is colored dark green.

This variety was bred by the Chelyabinsk company «Sad i Ogorod» and approved for use in 2011. It is adapted for cultivation throughout the territory of Russia and is suitable for growing in both cold and warm regions. The yield of the variety is about 1.2 kg per square meter, and high transportability and universal purpose make it popular among gardeners and chefs. It is grown in a two-year culture: in the first year seeds are sown, and in the next year the obtained seedling is planted.
