Onion VAVILOVSKY

A Breeding Breakthrough in the Onion Segment

The 'Vavilovsky' variety, developed by the experts at NPO Sad i Ogorod with the participation of Vladimir Stepanov and Vladimir Suzan, stands as one of the most ambitious domestic breeding achievements in recent years. Designed to meet the demands of professional vegetable growers, this bulb onion combines high industrial yield potential with exceptional storage stability for a salad-type variety.

Productivity and Morphology

A key advantage of the variety is its remarkable productivity: under proper agronomic management, yields can exceed 100 tons per hectare. The ellipsoidal shape of the bulbs, combined with the striking dark bronze skin, makes the product highly attractive for the premium fresh market segment.

Storage Technology

Contrary to the stereotype that salad onions have a short shelf life, 'Vavilovsky' demonstrates impressive storage durability. The quality of the marketable bulb is maintained for 9–10 months, allowing farmers to extend the sales period significantly and market the produce during the off-season when prices peak. The snow-white interior retains its texture and taste characteristics throughout the entire storage cycle.

Application Recommendations

The variety is optimized for manual harvesting, which is ideal for growers who prioritize maintaining the integrity of the outer scales and the pristine commercial appearance of each bulb. The status of the originator, verified by NPO Sad i Ogorod, ensures genetic purity and consistency of the stated characteristics.
