Onion AUTUMN BEAUTY

Technical Profile of the Variety

The "Osenny Krasavets" (Autumn Beauty) leek from the Sedek breeding and seed company is a late-ripening variety focused on long-term storage and high marketability. The originators—I.N. Dubinina, A.N. Lukyanenko, and O.G. Dubina—have employed a selection approach centered on balancing plant productivity with high biological resilience.

Biological and Agrotechnical Features

• Vegetation Period: 150–160 days from full emergence. The extended ripening period allows the plant to accumulate maximum nutrients and form a dense, high-quality white shaft structure.
• Usage: Salad type. The variety is characterized by mild pungency and distinct flavor profiles, making it optimal for both fresh consumption and culinary processing.
• Harvesting Technology: Hand harvesting is required due to the specific anatomy of the leek. Careful extraction from the soil minimizes mechanical damage to the blanched portion, which is critical for preserving the integrity of the outer scales.
• Storage Potential: When stored under optimal conditions (temperature 0–2 °C, humidity 80–85%), the variety maintains its marketability for 9–10 months. This shelf life is achieved through tight leaf adhesion and a high content of dry matter, which reduces the risk of pathogen development during storage.

"Osenny Krasavets" is designed for professional vegetable growers and gardeners who prioritize long-term food preservation. Due to its long formation cycle, the plant exhibits excellent adaptability to autumnal temperature drops, allowing for an extended vegetation period to maximize the mass of the blanched stem immediately prior to harvest.
