MORGAN is a mid-ripening variety of spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) intended for grain-forage use and green mass production. The vegetation period ranges from 77 to 95 days, with fruiting beginning approximately 85 days after sowing. The plant is tall-growing, with stem heights reaching about 90 cm. Grains are white in color, with a 1000-grain mass varying from 32 to 41 grams, indicating good grain quality and density with a natural weight of 440-530 g/L. The variety belongs to the mutica type and is characterized by simultaneous ripening with the Selma variety. MORGAN differs in high yield, which depends on the cultivation region. In the East Siberian region, the average yield is about 20.5 c/ha, in the Central region up to 36.8 c/ha, and in the Volga-Vyatsk region up to 42.2 c/ha. In some cases, yield can reach 55 c/ha. Protein content in grains ranges from 9.1% to 10.8%, ensuring good nutritional value of the feed. The variety exhibits resistance to shattering and drought at the level of standard varieties, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. The variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the South, Udyansk dry steppe, Central steppe, and Baikal Forest-steppe of the Republic of Buryatia, as well as the Central, Volga-Vyatsk, Middle Volga, and Ural regions. MORGAN shows moderate resistance to powdery bunt, but is highly susceptible to crown rust, requiring attention to plant protection. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptability, this barley variety is an effective solution for obtaining high-quality grain and green mass in various agro-climatic conditions.
