The spring oat variety "KOZYR" is an intensive and high-yielding variety developed at the Research Institute of Agriculture of the Central Regions of the Non-Black Soil Zone. It belongs to the mutica type — white-seeded and awless oat. The plant is erect, with a stem of medium height and thickness, and lacks pubescence on the upper stem node. The flag leaf is positioned vertically, and the head has a semi-spikelet shape. A distinguishing feature of the variety is a strong waxy coating on the stems, leaves, and glumes, with the absence of a waxy coating on the lower floret glume. The variety is mid-season, closer to early-mid season, maturing 2-4 days earlier than varieties such as Skakun and Astore. The "KOZYR" variety is characterized by high yield and resistance to adverse factors. Maximum yield reaches 83.2 ц/га (8.3 т/га), which exceeds the level of standard varieties by almost 10 ц/га. It has good responsiveness to increased agronomy, is resistant to lodging, drought, and diseases such as loose smut and crown rust. The vegetative period lasts 82–89 days. Thanks to these qualities, the variety competes successfully in the Central, Central Black Soil, North-Western, Volga-Vyatka, and Middle Volga regions. The grain of the "KOZYR" variety is large, with a 1000-grain weight of 34.4 to 37.2 g, high density (535-550 g/л), low flouriness (23-25%), and increased protein content (11-13%). These characteristics make it valuable for food and fodder purposes. Moreover, the variety is suitable for cultivation in mixtures with leguminous crops for green mass, hay, and silage, which expands its use in agriculture. High productivity, stress resistance, and dual purpose make "KOZYR" one of the best oat varieties by grain technological qualities.
