Oat Canyon

CANYON is a medium-early spring variety of oats (Avena sativa L.), characterized by medium height and a semi-erect culm. The plant features little to no pubescence on leaf sheaths, leaf margins, and the upper stem node. The head is two-sided, of medium length, with horizontally arranged branches and drooping spikelets. The grain is large, with a 1000-grain mass ranging from 31 to 44 grams and a natural density of 440-560 g/l. Protein content in the grain reaches 13.6%, making the variety valuable in terms of quality.

The CANYON variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Volgo-Vyatsky, Central Black Earth, North Caucasus, and Lower Volga regions, as well as in Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Sverdlovsk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk, Tambov oblasts, the Krasnodar Krai, and the Republic of Crimea. The vegetative period lasts 66-84 days. Yields vary across regions from 28.7 to 51.4 c/ha, indicating the high productivity of the variety.

CANYON possesses resistance to lodging and drought at the level of standard varieties, as well as tolerance to root rots. It demonstrates high field resistance to crown rust and powdery mildew, while being moderately susceptible to loose smut. These characteristics make the variety a reliable choice for cultivation in diverse climatic conditions, ensuring stable yield quality and quantity.
