Horizon

Horizon is a medium-maturing chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) variety intended for cultivation in the North Caucasus and Middle Volga regions. The plant is characterized by a medium height ranging from 29 to 50 cm and an erect-semi-erect bush type. The stems lack anthocyanin pigmentation, the flowers are white, and the seeds are beige in color, with a shape ranging from round to angular and pronounced ribbing. The mass of 1000 seeds is very large, ranging from 321 to 400 grams, which is one of the important indicators of the variety. The variety is distinguished by its resistance to lodging, shattering, and drought at the level of standard varieties, ensuring crop stability in complex climatic conditions. The protein content in the seeds reaches 26.4%, making Horizon chickpeas a valuable source of plant protein. The maximum yield of the variety can reach 28.5 centners per hectare, while the average yield in the North Caucasus region is 14.7 c/ha and in the Middle Volga region is 19.2 c/ha. During the years of testing, the variety was not affected by diseases and pests, indicating its high resistance and reliability. Horizon is a promising variety for agricultural production due to its high agronomic characteristics and product quality. It is suitable for cultivation in regions with various climatic conditions, ensuring stable and high-quality harvests. The high protein content and large seeds make this variety in demand for the food industry and feed purposes.
