VEKTOR® chickpea variety represents a high-yield and quality variety developed at the Yagoda Research Institute in the South-East region. This variety is intended for cultivation in various climatic conditions, ensuring its wide adaptability and yield stability. VEKTOR® differs in high yield, ranging from 1.3 to 3.0 tons per hectare depending on weather conditions, making it profitable for agricultural production.
Botanical characteristics of the variety include an erect bush type 40-45 cm high with moderate branching intensity. Leaves are large, elliptical in shape, and green in color. Flowers are white, located on long pedicels. Pods are large, round-elongated with a sharp beak, beige seeds, intermediate form, and wrinkled. The mass of 1000 seeds is 300-350 grams. The vegetative period of the medium-early variety is 75-80 days, with maturation occurring 5-7 days earlier compared to the Krasnokutsky 36 variety.
VEKTOR® variety has high resistance to lodging, shattering, and pod cracking, as well as medium drought resistance. Due to the high protein content in the grain (26.2-27.8%), chickpeas of this variety are valued for food use and are in demand in the external market as a large-grain product. The inclusion of the variety in the list of valuable chickpea varieties confirms its commercial attractiveness and competitiveness.
