Description VOLGOGRADSKY 10
The Chickpea variety Volgogradsky 10 was developed at the Stavropol Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture and belongs to the Transcaucasian Corneum subgroup. It is characterized by early maturity with a vegetation period of about 75 days and a stem height ranging from 0.45 to 0.65 meters. The plants have high attachment of lower pods, which facilitates mechanized harvesting with a combine. The flowers are small and white, each pod contains one to two seeds, rarely three. Seeds are of medium size, rounded and white in color, with a 1000-seed mass of approximately 240–260 grams.

Volgogradsky 10 is distinguished by high yield, which in various conditions reached from 3.0 to 4.6 tons per hectare. The variety is resistant to lodging, drought, heat, and also possesses good resistance to diseases and pests. Pods do not split or shed upon ripening, which contributes to yield preservation. Protein content in seeds varies from 21.3% to 28%, and in some years exceeded 30%, making this variety valuable in terms of nutritional value and taste qualities.

The Volgogradsky 10 variety has been included in the list of best chickpea varieties by seed quality and recommended for use in Russia. It has high drought resistance and heat tolerance, which allows for successful cultivation in various climatic conditions. Due to its characteristics and high productivity, this variety is widely used in agriculture and is valued for its excellent commercial and culinary qualities.
