Mustard is an annual herbaceous plant of the Brassicaceae family, 40-50 cm high, with small round seeds that can be blackish-grey, brown, or pale yellow. The plant's flowers are yellow, and the fruit is pods filled with seeds that ripen in June after flowering in May.
Mustard seeds are valued as a food product and a medicinal agent. In cooking, they are used as ground mustard, grains, or ready-made sauce, giving dishes spice and tenderness; they go well with meat, soups, salads, stews, and other dishes. Additionally, mustard sauce is used to give a spicy taste to aspic, sausages, and smoked products.
In medicine, mustard is used for colds, bronchitis, radiculitis, rheumatism, and nervous disorders, as well as to enhance mental activity. In cosmetology, it is used in hair masks to eliminate greasiness, strengthen roots, and accelerate growth.
