Dorothea is an early-maturing variety of green asparagus bean, valued for its quick maturity and tender, sweet pods with excellent taste qualities. It takes only 50–60 days from germination to harvest of flat-cylindrical green pods measuring 16–18 cm, making it an ideal choice for quick home cooking and canning.
The Dorothea green asparagus bean plant is compact, standing 30–40 cm tall, and has high heat tolerance. When sown early under conditions of wet and cold weather, seeds may perish; therefore, it is important to consider climatic features when cultivating.
The yield of this variety ranges from 3 to 5 kg/m², and the grains are white in color with an elliptical shape. Thanks to its structure, the pods cook easily both fresh and after canning, retaining their aroma and texture.
