SHANTANE-COMET

Shantane-Comet carrot is a mid-early type Shantane variety developed by the Dutch company Hazera. The vegetative period ranges from 90 to 110 days, allowing for harvest within 3-4 months after germination. This variety is distinguished by high yields, reaching 7-8 kg per square meter, and is successfully cultivated in all agro-climatic regions of Ukraine due to its adaptability to various soil and climatic conditions.

The root vegetables of Shantane-Comet carrot have a characteristic conical shape and a rich orange color. The length of the roots reaches 16-18 cm, with a diameter of 7-8 cm, and an average weight of 150-200 g. The flesh is dense, homogeneous, with high carotene, sugar, and dry matter content, ensuring excellent taste qualities and nutritional value. The foliage is well-developed and upright, which promotes effective photosynthesis, facilitates crop care, and enables mechanized harvesting.

The variety is resistant to root rot and speckling of roots caused by Pythium fungi, reducing the need for chemical protection and promoting the production of healthy produce. Shantane-Comet carrot is versatile in use: it is suitable for fresh market sales, processing, drying, freezing, and long-term storage. It can be used to make juices, purees, and vegetable mixes, making this variety in demand for both home use and industrial production.
