Description Prometei
Miscanthus «Prometheus» – a perennial ornamental grass of the panic grass family, reaching a height of 0.8 to 2 meters. The plant features erect stems and leathery leaves ranging from 0.5 to 1.8 cm in length, which can be green, narrow with a thick central vein, and turn yellow, brown, burgundy, and red shades during the autumn season. Flowering occurs in August–October; the inflorescences have a fan-like shape and can be pinkish, reddish-brown, silvery, or cream-white.

«Prometheus» is distinguished by high hardiness: the plant is unpretentious regarding soil, tolerates drought and urban air pollution well, and prefers sunny and partial shade locations. Frost resistance varies from moderate to high depending on the variety; some options require mulching or winter covering. Thanks to its hardiness and ornamental value, «Prometheus» is widely used in landscape design for creating lawns, water bodies, rock gardens, dry floral compositions, as well as an accent plant or hedge.

In addition to aesthetic value, this grass possesses significant energy potential: burning releases a large amount of energy and produces minimal ash. The «Prometheus» variety is characterized by high dry biomass yield – 21 t/ha, a plantation usage term of up to 20 years, and an energy output of approximately 378 GJ/ha with low ash content (0.5–1.3%). These indicators make it an effective and environmentally safe material for electricity production.
