Miscanthus – a decorative grass from the panic grass family, valued for its beauty and versatility in landscape design. It reaches a height of 0.8 to 2 meters, has upright stems and leathery leaves 0.5 to 1.8 cm long. The leaves are usually narrow with a thick central vein, changing color throughout the season: green in summer, turning into shades of yellow, brown, burgundy, and red in autumn. During the winter period, the leaves remain on the plant, creating a "fountain" effect and giving the garden a special atmosphere.
The variety "Veliten" is distinguished by its high growth – up to 2 meters – and dense vertical stems covered with long, fluffy panicles. The flowers can be reddish-brown, silver, or creamy-white, and in August–October they form fan-shaped inflorescences that retain their decorative qualities even after the leaves fall. Due to its frost resistance and ability to withstand drought, the plant is suitable for both open areas and shady spots.
Miscanthus is widely used in gardening: it can be planted as a single accent or in groups, near water bodies, along fences, or as a screen. It also serves as material for floristic compositions and dried bouquets due to the durability of leaves and inflorescences. For care, a sunny location and moderately moist fertile soil are sufficient; if necessary, moderate watering can be conducted in summer, and leaves should be cut in early spring before new shoots appear. Thanks to its decorativeness and ease of maintenance, miscanthus becomes a popular choice for creating picturesque garden ensembles.
