Timothy Grass Boikivchanka

Sustainable productivity for forage systems

The «Boykivchanka» timothy grass variety represents a significant achievement of the Institute of Agriculture of the Carpathian Region (NAAS of Ukraine). Developed to address the needs of long-term forage production, this variety has earned a reputation for its exceptional winter hardiness and resilience, making it a staple in pastures and hayfields across the region.

Agronomic profile and performance

As a reliable early-maturing variety, «Boykivchanka» fits seamlessly into forage rotation cycles. It is specifically valued for its ability to maintain stand density over several years, providing consistent yields and high-quality biomass. With a crude protein content ranging from 12% to 16%, it serves as a nutrient-dense foundation for livestock nutrition.

• Green mass yield: 300–450 tons per hectare, depending on soil quality and moisture management.
• Seed production capacity: 4–8 centners per hectare.
• Adaptability: High resistance to fungal diseases and excellent tolerance to fluctuating seasonal temperatures.

«Boykivchanka» stands out in the market due to its combination of low maintenance and stable performance. It remains a preferred choice for agricultural enterprises looking to optimize their green conveyor system and ensure a steady supply of high-energy forage even under challenging environmental conditions. This variety remains a testament to the effectiveness of Ukrainian specialized breeding in supporting the livestock industry.
