Timothy Grass Darina

Sustainable forage base for livestock farming

Timothy grass of the 'Darina' variety is a specialized cultivar developed by the Institute of Irrigated Agriculture of the NAAS of Ukraine. It is designed for farms prioritizing the creation of durable hay meadows and reliable grazing systems under local climatic conditions.

Practical field applications

• Establishing permanent meadows: The variety provides excellent stand density and tillering, which is crucial for forming a robust turf layer suitable for multiple mowing cycles.
• Forage management: 'Darina' is a reliable component for grass mixtures, contributing to the structural quality of harvested hay. With a crude protein content of 5.5%, it offers a consistent baseline for roughage feed.
• Operational efficiency: As a domestically bred variety, it shows high adaptability to Ukrainian soil and climate, responding effectively to fertilization and irrigation regimes.

Farmers select 'Darina' for its predictability and resilience. Unlike wild types, this cultivar is optimized for managed cultivation, helping to minimize the risk of stand thinning in the years following establishment. It is an essential choice for agricultural enterprises aiming for a stable, long-term supply of fodder for cattle and sheep production.
