Egnazio F1 is a medium-early and high-yielding hybrid of the Yellow Canary type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Enza Zaden. From transplanting to harvest, it takes approximately 65-70 days, allowing for an early harvest. The plant is climbing, with strong vines and dense foliage, possessing high coverage ability and resistance to powdery mildew and fungal infections, ensuring a healthy vegetative system until the end of the growing period. Egnazio F1 is not picky about soil quality and is adaptable to agronomic practices, enabling successful cultivation in various climatic conditions, including challenging regions of Ukraine.
The melon fruits are oval or pear-shaped with bright yellow, smooth or slightly wrinkled rind, sometimes with pronounced bumps. The average fruit weight is 3-5 kg. The flesh is white, firm, and crisp, becoming softer, juicier, and sweeter upon storage. Dry matter (Brix) content varies from 12 to 14%, ensuring a rich flavor and intense aroma. Seeds detach easily, with a narrow and compact seed cavity that leaves no marks on the flesh.
Egnazio F1 is intended for cultivation in open ground with a planting rate of 7-9 thousand plants per hectare. Yields can reach 20 to 80 tons per hectare. Fruits withstand long-distance transport well and can be stored for 4-5 months under proper conditions. For long-term storage, it is recommended to harvest fruits 2 weeks before full ripening. Due to its qualities, Egnazio F1 is in high demand on fresh markets in autumn and early winter.
