MILAN F1 watermelon is a medium-early pineapple-type hybrid developed by the French company Clause. This variety features a strong, fast-growing plant with a dense dark green foliage canopy raised above the fruits. The ripening period ranges from 65 to 75 days after transplanting seedlings to the permanent location, enabling early harvests. The watermelon adapts well to various climatic and soil conditions, successfully grown both in open ground and under plastic coverings, including low tunnels. The plant forms 4-5 oval-shaped fruits with strong pedicel attachment. Fruits have a gray-green rind with a distinct netting and weigh 3.5 to 4.5 kg. The flesh is orange, dense, crisp, and very juicy, with an intense aroma. The flavor is characterized by high sweetness, with sugar content reaching 12-14%. Due to its dense structure and small seed cavity, the fruits exhibit excellent marketability, storability, and transportability, preserving taste and aroma for a long time after harvest. MILAN F1 is drought-resistant and possesses strong immunity, resistant to diseases such as fusarium and powdery mildew. The high productivity of the hybrid allows harvesting over 60-70 tons per hectare, making it popular among both large agricultural enterprises and private melon growers. This variety is versatile: fruits are consumed fresh, as well as used for baking and processing into juices.
