Prestige watermelon is an early-maturing variety that allows harvesting as early as the first half of summer, approximately 65 days after sowing. The plant is medium-sized with long vines and a strong green stem, bearing large oval fruits weighing 2 to 2.6 kg. The outer surface of the fruits is covered with a dense netting of green or brownish hue, while the rind color ranges from yellow to orange. The flesh is white or beige-white, juicy, sweet, and relatively thick — about 2.5–3 cm — which makes the flavor especially tender and pleasant.
For successful cultivation of the Prestige variety, it is important to provide the plant with a sunny, warm location and light, well-drained soil. Sowing is recommended when the soil has warmed to 16 degrees Celsius at a depth of 3–4 cm, with a seeding rate of about 0.3 g per square meter. During stem formation, lateral shoots should be removed, leaving two to three fruits, which promotes the development of large, high-quality fruits. Subsequent care includes timely watering, soil loosening, fertilizer application, and if necessary, vine support.
The variety is characterized by high resistance to diseases, particularly powdery mildew, which significantly simplifies care and increases harvest reliability. Prestige watermelon fruits are well-suited for transportation and are suitable for both fresh consumption and processing. Thanks to their flavor and ease of cultivation, this variety will be an excellent choice for gardeners aiming to obtain an early and delicious watermelon harvest.
