SELEDYN melon is an early and high-yielding hybrid of Polish selection, intended for cultivation both in open and protected ground. The plant is vigorous and trailing, forming two to four large fruits. The maturation period is from 75 to 80 days from germination to harvest, allowing for a quick harvest. Fruits have a round-oval or spherical shape, bright yellow or yellow-orange color with a slight green tint, and a weight from 1.1 to 1.4 kg.
The flesh of the SELEDYN melon differs in a tender light green or yellowish-green color; it is juicy, melting, and has a rich sweet taste with a refreshing aroma. High sugar and carotene content makes this variety particularly attractive for fresh consumption and diet food. Thanks to its taste qualities and aroma, the melon is suitable for various culinary purposes.
Growing SELEDYN melon requires adherence to certain agricultural techniques. Seeds are sown in mid-March in peat pots at a temperature of +25+30°C until germination, then the temperature is maintained at +15+17°C. Seedlings are pinched above the fifth leaf to form side shoots and are planted in the ground after the end of spring frosts. Watering and feeding are done carefully, avoiding wetting the leaves and the root collar. To improve germination and fruit setting, it is recommended to use growth and development stimulants.
