Melon HURUMA

Stable Classic in an Orange Package

The 'Khuruma' melon is the result of many years of breeding by Gavrish and VNIISSOK. This variety has carved out a niche in vegetable growing due to its predictable yield. Unlike many transient hybrids, 'Khuruma' shows excellent adaptability to temperate climates, making it a reliable choice for both commercial farms and serious home gardeners.

Key Features and Culinary Profile

The main visual differentiator of this variety is its rich orange-yellow skin, which retains its vibrancy even after storage. A fruit weighing 2.0–3.0 kg is considered the 'gold standard' for market weight: this melon fits perfectly into standard shipping crates and is highly convenient for retail sales.

• Weight Consistency: Fruits maintain their size even under less-than-ideal weather conditions.
• Transportability: The firm flesh structure allows for transport over moderate distances without losing commercial appearance.
• Flavor Profile: The variety is known for its distinct, intense melon aroma, a quality often lost in modern imported hybrids bred strictly for shelf life.

Who is this variety for?

'Khuruma' is optimal for those seeking a balance between mass production and flavor. It does not require exotic growing conditions, although it is sensitive to irrigation regimes: excessive moisture during the ripening phase can decrease sugar concentration. For professional farmers, this variety is an attractive asset that mitigates the risks of crop failure due to climatic variability. If your goal is a commercial-grade melon with predictable geometry and a classic flavor, 'Khuruma' will serve as a solid foundation for your product lineup.
