Watermelon AMERICAN

Growing the «American» Watermelon: When Geometry Meets Taste

When you first plant this variety from Agrofirma Poisk, you expect the classics, but the «American» breaks stereotypes right in the field. Its main feature is the unpredictability of the fruit's geometry. In the same plot, you can get both neat rounded «spheres» and elongated cylindrical shapes. For a farmer, this is a plus: the watermelon stands out at the market, catching the buyer's eye with its unusual appearance.

Agrotechnics and Maturation

The 60-70 day growing season allows you to confidently grow the crop in temperate climates using seedlings. In practice: if planted in the ground at the end of May, the first fruits are ready for harvest as early as the first ten days of August. The plant is undemanding and requires standard maintenance: moderate watering and fertilization during the fruit set stage.

Gastronomic Surprises

The most interesting part starts when you slice it. The «American» is one of the few varieties where breeding has provided a surprising range of flesh colors. You never know what to expect: a deep red or an original orange. Both versions have high sugar content and a firm, crispy texture. The weight of the fruits is optimal for retail — from 5 to 8 kilograms. It is an ideal «one-time» format for a small family, which significantly simplifies logistics and storage.

• Weight stability: Fruits rarely exceed the 5-8 kg range, which is convenient for packaging.
• Planting: Responds perfectly to film covers, accelerating ripening by 5-7 days.
• Yield: With proper care, it provides a predictable output of marketable produce from each vine.

If you are looking for a variety that not only delights with taste but also gives you something to talk about with neighbors or clients, the «American» will be a great addition to your melon assortment.
