Altayskaya melon is a high-yielding variety with an early maturation period, specifically bred for cultivation in Siberian conditions and moderate climates. The plant is moderately vining, with the vine reaching a length of about 2 meters. The fruits have an oval shape and weigh from 0.7 to 2 kg, making them convenient for harvesting and transportation.
The rind is thin with a characteristic pattern in the form of a white or delicate net, giving the fruits an attractive appearance. The flesh is dense, light yellow-orange or white, up to 3 cm thick, grainy, with a pronounced sweet taste and strong aroma. Thanks to these qualities, the fruits are versatile: they can be eaten fresh, dried, and used to make compotes, jams, and other preserves.
The variety is characterized by high resistance to temperature fluctuations and major diseases, making it undemanding and well-adapted to harsh climatic conditions. Sowing seedlings is recommended in late April, and planting – in late May or early June; the optimal planting scheme is 40-50 to 80-100 cm. A dense rind ensures good preservation of the harvest and allows fruits to be stored for a long time without loss of quality.
