Alfalfa Planet

German precision in alfalfa breeding

The «Planet» alfalfa variety from Euro Grass Breeding KG is engineered for agricultural enterprises that prioritize yield stability and disease resistance. In a market saturated with generic varieties, Planet stands out due to its specific genetic traits aimed at combating the most common threats to legume crops.

Key advantages

• Advanced disease resistance: The primary strength of this variety is its genetic resilience to bacterial wilt and Phoma (foliar blight). This reduces the reliance on fungicide treatments, lowering operational costs and supporting sustainable farming.
• Growth habit: With a plant height of 8–12 cm during early growth stages, Planet is optimized for rapid establishment. This compact, robust growth habit helps the crop withstand environmental stress and creates a dense sward that outcompetes weeds.
• Proven lineage: Backed by the expertise of Deutsche Saatveredelung and Euro Grass Breeding KG, this variety adheres to strict EU quality standards, ensuring high germination rates and consistent performance in the field.

Who should choose Planet?

Planet is an ideal solution for livestock farmers looking for a high-protein feed source that doesn't falter under pressure from common soil-borne or foliar diseases. It performs best in systems where long-term productivity and feed quality are paramount. Unlike less refined varieties, Planet offers a predictable regrowth cycle, making it easier to manage harvest schedules effectively.

Maximizing yield

Successful cultivation of Planet depends on proper seedbed preparation and monitoring of moisture levels. Given its inherent strength against pathogens, it is particularly well-suited for regions where climate conditions often favor fungal development. For producers focusing on a 3-to-4-year rotation, Planet offers an excellent return on investment through its sustained high-quality biomass production.
