Honeysuckle Altair

Heritage of the Vavilov Institute

The 'Altair' honeysuckle variety is a product of professional breeding efforts by the N.I. Vavilov All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources. As a staple of regional breeding, it is specifically adapted to the most challenging climatic conditions. Developed by one of the oldest research centers, 'Altair' has proven its reliability over time, becoming a sought-after choice for both commercial growers and small-scale farms focused on high-quality fruit production.

Agrotechnical Performance and Potential

The primary advantage of this variety is its extreme winter hardiness; the bush can withstand temperatures as low as -45°C, making it an excellent selection for regions with harsh, continental climates. Reaching a manageable height of 120–150 cm, the plants are easy to maintain and harvest efficiently.

• Flavor Profile: The berries are recognized for their distinct sweet taste, a critical factor for successful marketing in the fresh produce sector.
• Versatility: Due to the firm structure of the berries, 'Altair' is highly suitable for both fresh market sales and processing (such as preserves, jams, and freezing), while retaining excellent organoleptic properties.

Today, 'Altair' holds a stable position in the honeysuckle market, offering growers predictable yields and strong resistance to environmental stress, which significantly minimizes the risks of seasonal crop loss.
