Lettuce BASSARI

Consistent Yields in Any Conditions

The Bassari lettuce hybrid by Nunhems is engineered for growers who prioritize risk management and superior market presentation. As a Batavia-type variety, it offers exceptional versatility, performing reliably in both open fields and protected cropping systems like plastic tunnels.

Resilience for Maximum Profitability

Disease pressure is the primary threat to profitability in lettuce production. Bassari serves as an effective biological shield against major industry pathogens:

• Strong resistance to Downy Mildew (Bremia lactucae), crucial for maintaining crop health in humid climates.
• High tolerance to Fusarium wilt, allowing for successful production even in challenging soil conditions.
• Immunity to Lettuce Mosaic Virus (LMV), ensuring uniform crop quality and reducing culling rates.

Practical Agronomic Value

Bassari is prized for developing a dense, heavy rosette with a signature crisp leaf texture. Its robust root system ensures rapid establishment after transplanting, which is a major advantage for commercial production cycles. The hybrid is notably heat-tolerant and bolt-resistant, allowing growers to manage harvest windows flexibly according to market demands. Furthermore, the structural integrity of the rosette remains intact during logistics, making Bassari an excellent choice for retail suppliers who require high-density heads that withstand transportation without damage.
