Lettuce Scala

Working with Scala Lettuce

Working with the late-maturing Scala variety from Nunhems requires a clear understanding of its growth cycle. The deep dark green color of the leaves provides an excellent market presentation, which simplifies retail sales significantly.

Field Performance and Management

Scala produces a dense, well-structured rosette of average mass. Unlike early-maturing varieties, this lettuce shows low susceptibility to bolting, giving the grower an extra window for harvesting. Because it is a late-season crop, stable fertilization and precise irrigation are crucial, as the main weight gain happens during the decreasing light period of the season.

• Uniformity: The plants show high uniformity within the row, which makes mechanical harvesting much more efficient.
• Robustness: As a typical Nunhems selection, the variety possesses strong resistance to common lettuce diseases.
• Logistics: The firm structure of the rosette ensures the crop can be transported over distances without significant quality loss.

If you are looking for a hybrid to complete your late-autumn supply chain, Scala is a reliable tool. When managed correctly according to standard agrotechnical practices, it delivers predictable results without the typical risks associated with less stable genetics.
