Caravel is a dark green, multi-leafed Lollo Bionda-type salad intended for production in recirculating hydroponics. The plant forms a beautiful, even, and large rosette consisting of a large number of small leaves. The leaves are dense, with a wavy edge and a shiny surface, giving the salad an intense and attractive color. It looks especially striking in combination with red lettuce.
The variety is distinguished by high productivity and resistance to necrosis and bolting, which ensures a stable yield and a healthy root system. The average weight of one plant ranges from 188 to 267 grams; the leaf shape is obovate and slightly blistered. Due to these characteristics, Caravel is suitable for cultivation in various regions and is successfully used in commercial production.
Sowing is done by one seed per pot, which allows growing plants separately or in combination with other varieties, for example, with red lettuce 'Salanova'. Caravel lettuce can be marketed as a single plant or as a cut, making it a versatile product for various culinary applications.
