Lettuce CONVERSION

Stable harvests in any weather: the potential of 'Conversion' lettuce

For professional vegetable growers targeting the fresh market, reliability is the primary criterion for choosing seeds. The 'Conversion' hybrid from Rijk Zwaan is more than just an early-maturing Batavia lettuce; it is a tool for risk mitigation in intensive farming. The main strength of this variety lies in its combination of rapid growth and powerful immunity, a rare trait for early leafy types.

Agricultural advantages and resistance

The main challenge in field lettuce cultivation is the risk of fungal disease outbreaks during temperature and humidity fluctuations. 'Conversion' stands out from its competitors due to its comprehensive resistance package:

• Pathogen protection: The hybrid shows high resistance to downy mildew (peronospora), fusarium, and powdery mildew. This is critical for minimizing the need for fungicide applications.
• Technological robustness: Resistance to internal necrosis ensures a high-quality marketable yield even during stressful weather conditions.

Who is this hybrid for?

'Conversion' is designed for farmers who value a deep dark green color and an attractive rosette appearance. Thanks to its medium-sized head, the variety is ideal for both retail chains (in packaging) and open markets. The early maturation period allows for quick crop rotation, maximizing the return on investment per hectare.

Despite its high productivity, it is important to remember: like all Dutch Batavia-type hybrids, 'Conversion' requires adherence to optimal planting density to ensure proper ventilation. This prevents the development of secondary infections and guarantees a perfectly shaped rosette with crisp, succulent leaves.
