Lettuce Lomeria

Reliable Yields with Minimal Maintenance

When working with the Lomeriya lettuce variety from Rijk Zwaan, the agronomist's primary objective is to achieve uniform head formation with minimal fungicide application. Dutch breeding shines here in terms of predictability: the crop demonstrates a high level of resistance to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae) and effectively withstands powdery mildew. This is not just a marketing claim, but a practical tool for reducing chemical load per hectare.

Vegetation and Crop Management

• Rosette Formation: The plant holds its shape exceptionally well; the leaves are dense and have a vibrant green color, which is critical for market appeal.
• Maturation: The medium maturity period allows for precise planning of harvesting cycles.
• Adaptability: The hybrid is forgiving of minor inconsistencies in irrigation schedules, maintaining turgor and avoiding premature bolting—a common issue in less stable varieties.

For professional growers, Lomeriya offers consistency. Reducing the risk of pathogen infection allows for the optimization of spray schedules, while the dense leaf structure simplifies harvesting and packaging processes. Minimal waste during trimming is another factor that positively impacts the overall economic efficiency of the crop.
