Lettuce Kitarę

Stability and Quality: Why «Kitare» is the Choice of Professionals

In the segment of Oakleaf lettuce, the Kitare hybrid from the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan stands as a benchmark for reliability. In the context of modern intensive vegetable production, where the risks of crop failure due to pests or disease can be costly, this variety offers a comprehensive solution for farmers focused on the fresh market.

Key Advantages and Technological Features

• High Resistance Profile: Rijk Zwaan breeders have focused heavily on defense against the most common threats. The variety demonstrates strong resistance to downy mildew (peronospora), which often decimates crops in humid conditions. Furthermore, it possesses genetic resistance to internal tip burn and lettuce aphids, minimizing the need for heavy pesticide applications and supporting more sustainable production.
• Appearance and Marketability: Kitare forms a large, massive, deep-green rosette. Its Oakleaf-type foliage features an attractive texture that holds up exceptionally well during transport and shelf life, which is critical for supermarket retail.
• Quality Control: As an original Rijk Zwaan (Netherlands) genetic product, this hybrid shows remarkable uniformity. Every plant in the field develops at a consistent rate, significantly simplifying the harvest and standardization process.

Who is this hybrid for?

Kitare is an optimal choice for professional growers operating in both open fields and protected environments. Its robust nature combined with its large size allows for a consistently high marketable yield, even when facing minor variations in agrotechnical precision. Kitare is an essential tool for those who refuse to compromise between the visual aesthetics of the leaf and the plant's resilience against external stress factors.
