Lettuce Kriska

The Italian standard for fresh market: why choose “Kriska”

The Lollo Biondo type lettuce “Kriska” from the breeders at Isi Sementi S.P.A is a choice for those who prioritize visual appeal and harvest consistency. Unlike many varieties that require perfect growing conditions, “Kriska” demonstrates high flexibility within its mid-season segment, forming voluminous, dense heads even under fluctuating temperature conditions.

Genetically built-in protection

The main challenge in lettuce cultivation is pathogen management. “Kriska” stands out among its peers due to its complex resistance profile:

• Fungal barrier: effective resistance against powdery mildew and brown spot, which is critical for maintaining leaf quality without heavy chemical usage.
• Pest immunity: high resistance to lettuce aphid eliminates the need for frequent insecticide treatments.
• Downy mildew: the variety is resistant to major races of Bremia, ensuring success in intensive growing cycles.

Who is this variety for?

“Kriska” is ideal for professional producers supplying retail chains. The heavy weight of the rosette allows for a high yield of marketable units, reducing packaging and logistics overheads. At the same time, the excellent head density makes this lettuce transport-stable; it stays crisp and fresh in crates all the way to the consumer. It is an optimal solution for those seeking the balance between predictable results, disease protection, and a professional aesthetic on the market shelf.
